March 9, 2009 - Technology that captures and stores carbon dioxide underground is not needed in every state of the country to make a dent in greenhouse gas emissions, several analysts emphasized Friday at a Capitol Hill briefing. Instead, its deployment in key areas such as Ohio, Texas, the Southeast and the Four Corners region of the Intermountain West would go a long way toward addressing coal's contribution to climate change in the United States, they said.
